This film started life as a photograph and a memory.

Taken on an Instamatic in the days of rolls of film posted off for processing and printing, the photo came back not only blurred but fogged and double exposed. I remember the disappointment on my mother face. During ‘the troubles’ her elder sister rarely visited (Northern Ireland) with her husband. They had settled in England in the 1950’s and had visited regularly in the 1960’s but by the 70’s coming home had become problematic. The sister’s saw less of each other, pushed apart by events not of their making and not within their control. This photograph brings with it a memory of one visit, one summer.
