“I remember the day well; the light, beautiful, cold, icy, fresh and clear. My hands freezing as I filmed the discarded bits and bobs that were lying around. Something had been burnt out as I recall, a caravan or mobile home of sorts. Whatever it was, the remnants demanded I take a closer look with my camera. And the trains rattled by on their way to the port.”
This film was shot on one reel of Super8 in Bremen, Germany,in 1999. The reel lay around for years. Finally in 2012, it was digitized and from the images a memory emerged.
The Beginning of The End was screened at Sonica, Festival of sound and image, Glasgow, 2013
